Native American & Alaska Native ACA benefits
Members of federally recognized tribes, ANCSA shareholders, and certain other AI/AN individuals get unique Marketplace protections: year-round enrollment, zero premium, and zero cost-sharing under 300% FPL.
No cost, no obligation. Brokers are paid by the carrier and can compare plans side-by-side for your situation.
Request a broker →Year-round enrollment — no Open Enrollment window
AI/AN individuals can enroll in or change Marketplace plans once per month, all year long. There is no Open Enrollment Period restriction and no qualifying life event required. Coverage starts the first of the month after enrollment.
Proof of tribal membership
Acceptable documents to verify AI/AN status include:
- Tribal enrollment card or membership document from a federally recognized tribe
- Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) issued by the BIA
- ANCSA shareholder documentation (Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act corporations)
- Document showing eligibility for Indian Health Service (IHS) care
Zero premium and zero cost-sharing
When household MAGI is at or below 300% FPLi, AI/AN enrollees qualify for a zero cost-sharing plan variation on any metal tier — no deductibles, no copays, no coinsurance, no out-of-pocket maximum to meet. Premium tax credits typically reduce monthly premiums to $0 at these income levels.
Above 300% FPL, AI/AN members still receive the limited cost-sharing plan variation: $0 cost-sharing for any item or service furnished by an Indian Health Service, Tribal, or Urban Indian provider, or via referral under contract health services.
Am I under 300% FPL?
Enter your household details to see where you fall on the Federal Poverty Level scale and whether you qualify for the zero cost-sharing plan variation.
Estimate only. Uses 2026 HHS poverty guidelines for plan year 2027. Final eligibility is determined by the Marketplace using verified MAGI and proof of tribal membership (CDIB, tribal ID, ANCSA shareholder documentation, etc.).
